Activated carbon filter introduction
Activated carbon filter is a type of mechanical filter, also known as pressure type filter. The internal water distribution of activated carbon filter adopts ABS mushroom type water cap or ball crown type porous plate water distribution method. The bottom of the filter is made of quartz sand cushion, and several specifications of activated carbon filter materials are installed inside; Fruit shell carbon and coal based carbon. Low resistance and high flux during filtration. Use the filler inside the filter to intercept and remove suspended particles and colloidal impurities in the water. When the filter layer becomes dirty and the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet increases, water (or water+compressed air) can be used for backwashing and filtration to restore the ability of the filter layer to intercept suspended solids. Activated carbon filters can be divided into manual and fully automatic types according to the control type. The manual type mainly controls the operation, washing, and backwashing of the filter through valve adjustment; The fully automatic type controls the operation, washing, and backwashing of the filter through an automatic filtering controller. It can be divided into fiberglass tanks, carbon steel tanks, and stainless steel tanks according to the material of the tank body. The inner wall of the tank can be coated with epoxy coating or lined with rubber for anti-corrosion according to user requirements.

Working principle of activated carbon filter
The adsorption principle of activated carbon is to form a balanced surface concentration on the surface of its particles, and then adsorb organic impurities into the activated carbon particles. The initial adsorption effect is very high. But over time, the adsorption capacity of activated carbon will weaken to varying degrees, and the adsorption effect will also decrease. If the water quality in the aquarium is turbid and the organic matter content in the water is high, activated carbon will soon lose its filtering function. Therefore, activated carbon should be cleaned or replaced regularly.
The size of activated carbon particles also affects their adsorption capacity. Generally speaking, the smaller the activated carbon particles, the larger the filtration area. So, powdered activated carbon has the largest total area and the best adsorption effect, but it is easy for powdered activated carbon to flow into the aquarium with water, making it difficult to control and rarely used. Granular activated carbon is difficult to flow due to its particle formation, and impurities such as organic matter in water are also not easily blocked in the activated carbon filter layer. Its adsorption capacity is strong, and it is easy to carry and replace.
The adsorption capacity of activated carbon is directly proportional to the time of contact with water, and the longer the contact time, the better the filtered water quality. Attention: The filtered water should slowly flow out of the filter layer. The new activated carbon should be washed clean before the first use, otherwise there will be ink black water flowing out.
Activated carbon filter pressure vessel is a pressure vessel filled with coarse quartz sand cushion and high-quality activated carbon.
Application range of activated carbon filter
In the field of water treatment, activated carbon filters are mainly used to remove trace pollutants from water, including decolorization, deodorization, and various dissolved organic compounds; In pure water processes, it can be used as a pre-treatment for ion exchange, electrodialysis, and reverse osmosis to remove organic matter, colloids, and residual chlorine; It can also be used as a deep treatment method after secondary treatment to ensure the quality of recycled water.
Adsorption effect of activated carbon filter
It can adsorb organic matter, colloidal particles, and microorganisms in water.
It can adsorb non-metallic substances such as chlorine, ammonia, bromine and iodine.
Can adsorb metal ions, such as silver, arsenic, hexavalent chromium, mercury antimony, tin plasma.
It can effectively remove color and odor, as long as the industrial water source is hot, and extend the service life of the exchange resin.
